Jens Janke

From the program for Les Misérables in Duisburg, where he was a swing

Janke's headshot After high school, at first trained as a radio operator and went around the world on the ship Gorch Fock for three years. After he say Les Misérables in Sydney in 1988, he decided to become a singer. He completed training at the Theater an der Wien's Tanz- und Gesangsstudio and appeared onstage as Crown Prince Rudolf in Elisabeth, Eugene in Grease, and Jack in Into the Woods, among others. After a year as the student Feuilly in the original [Duisburg] cast of Les Misérables, he took over eight further roles as a swing, and appears at the same time as Tobias in Sweeney Todd at the Städtischen Bühnen Münster.

After Les Mis, he played Professor Abronsius in Tanz der Vampire in Vienna, which I saw him in a few times; quite to my surprise (most of the people I know who saw him in Elisabeth or going on as Marius in Les Mis weren't impressed), I thought he was wonderful! Maybe he's just a lot better at comic roles. But whatever the reason, he was definitely very good in Tanz. From there, he went on to the Disney version of Hunchback of Notre Dame in Berlin.
