Gernot's headshot In addition to his work as a professional musician (bass guitar, keyboards, vocals), he studied in the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien's department for Musicals, Operetta and Chanson. During his education, he already appeared in Vienna's Graumanntheater and presented a TV show. In the Vienna production of Les Misérables he played Grantaire and Thénardier. Under the direction of Peter Weck, he was the original Wolfsmann and the Father/Sherlock Holmes understudy in the world premiere of Freudiana. Original cast Emperor Franz Joseph in Elisabeth.

Member of the comedy group Die Hektiker for three programs, as well as television work for ORF (Die kranken Schwestern), DSF, ARD, and W1. He spent a season in the Kabarett Simpl.

From September 1995 to May 1997 he played Lumiere in the European premiere of Disney's Beauty and the Beast in the Raimundtheater. For his portrayal of this role, he was awarded the first German musical theatre award, IMAGE, in April 1997 and reached third place in the "readers' choice" charts of the magazine Musicals.

Recently Viktor Gernot also started his own band, Animal House. Since December 1997, he can be seen as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast in Stuttgart. Beginning September 1998 he will once more show his cabaret side in Kabarett Simpl.


He also played Stine in City of Angels in Amstetten. He has released a few CDs; track info and a couple of brief clips can be found on the official Web site mentioned below.
